Monday’s With Mike: Healthy Fast Food at Luna Grill
Greek or Mediterranean food is one of my favorites to have when we decide to eat out. This week’s healthy fast food stop is at our favorite Mediterranean place, Luna Grill. They offer tasty kabobs and salads, so if you’ve never been there before, consider stopping by this week to grab a healthy bite!
Check out the video for our latest healthy fast food review at Luna Grill!
My wife and I really love Luna Grill! In fact, before they opened in Sherman Oaks, we would strategically plan any trip we had to make to Orange County in such a way that we could have Luna Grill multiple times before heading back to LA. So obviously we were stoked when they opened a restaurant just up the street from the gym!
Luna Grill makes my list of healthy fast food places you should check out for a few reasons:
They use non-GMO rice, lamb, salmon, and grass fed beef, as well as organic spinach
2. Support Local & Sustainable Businesses
They support locally harvested produce, sustainable farming, and local businesses.
3. Cooking Process
They cook with non-GMO, soy-free oil and cook the meats over an open flame
4. Animal Welfare
By 2024 they will only use chicken certified by the Global Animal Partnership
5. REAL Certification
The have the REAL (Responsible Epicurean and Agricultural Leadership) Certification, which means they’ve been recognized for having a commitment to nutrition and sustainability.
Luna Grill has several different meats to choose from including steak, lamb, chicken, and fish; and a pretty diverse menu with things like kabob plates, salads, wraps, and bowls, so it’s pretty safe to say there’s something for everyone here. They also have Kosher items, gluten free options, and some dishes that are vegan and vegetarian friendly. No matter what sort of diet you are on (paleo, keto, low fat, low carb, high carb, macros, whole 30, etc.) there is something here you can have that’ll fit your dietary requirements.
My wife and I both love the kabob plates and salads… well, 2 salads in particular… the Apple Walnut Salad and the Greek Salad. You can’t go wrong with either one! And if you get a plate, be sure to try the roasted carrots because they’re absolutely delicious!
Whether you’re watching your weight or trying to bulk up, you’ll be able to get a delicious meal and stick to your diet at Luna Grill.
Here are my ordering tips for this week:
Game Plan for Weight Loss
–> Go with the chicken kabob plate. It comes with a nice skewer of chicken, rice, carrots, yogurt dip, and a side salad with house dressing.
–> Skip the Pita bread
–> That meal will give you: 20g of fat, 71g of carbs, and 40g of protein! You could even eliminate 31 carbs by cutting the rice portion in half… as it can sometimes be a lot of rice,
Game Plan for Muscle Gain
–> You’ve really got a lot of options here., but I’d suggest going with a salad or a kabob plate
–> Skip the pita or wraps to keep the carbs clean and minimally processed
–> And per usual, double up on your meat… for the plates you could do 2 different kabobs if you’re looking for some added variety.
So there you have it! Another solid meal option from a place that cares about where their food comes from and what’s in it! See you next week for another episode of Monday’s with Mike!
